Welcome to the GHR PTO Web Site!  You will find the PTO meeting dates, our committees, upcoming events and much more.  We hope that the 2011-2012 school year will be a great school year.  The PTO hopes to see you at the meetings.  If at anytime you have a question please feel free to contact one of the board members below.

 

The Mission of the PTO is to provide a forum for parents, teachers and administrators

to be kept informed of and share in creating policies and activities affecting the GHR children.

Our Vision is to strengthen the relationship between school

and home via teachers and parents.

Our meetings will be on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 6:30. They are:

December 14 (rescheduled)

March 7

The meetings will be on the 1st Wednesday of each month and begin at 6:30 pm. They are held in the school library and there is free childcare with planned activities for the children. We are all very excited about this school year and hope to see you at the meetings.  There are many committees in place that can still use volunteers, so if you are interested, please contact a board member today.  Let us all work together to make this school year a wonderful success.

 

 COMMITTEES

 

FUNDRAISING

              We need a chair or co-chairs for the fall and spring fundraiser.  The chair or co-chairs would distribute fundraising information and coordinate the incoming and outgoing of orders.  They would also be available for distribution of the items.  The PTO does its best to provide money to support educational programs and initiatives at GHR that are not adequately funded the Board of Education budget.

 

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

              This committee needs a chair and many volunteers to make it a success. The chair would coordinate the many volunteers needed for set up, breakdown and the actual purchase time of the fair.   The parents and children of GHR can purchase books for themselves or as gifts from popular children and adult selections.  The PTO offers Scholastic Book Fairs twice a year, fall and spring.

 

STAFF APPRECIATION

              This is a committee that takes many volunteers and a chair or co-chairs.  Staff Appreciation is a time to say “thank you” to all the wonderful staff at GHR for providing our children with a safe and great educational experience.  Activities occur throughout the year, including the week of National Teacher Appreciation week in May. 

 

 

PTO CRAFT FAIR

              The PTO Craft Fair is a Coventry tradition.  Each school PTO coordinates a portion of the fair to make it a success.  GHR is responsible for the admission tables when people are entering the craft fair and the traditional breakfast in the morning for the venders.   This big event is held at Coventry High School the first Saturday in December.

Many, many volunteers are needed for this along with a few wonderful chairs.
