VETERANS' DAY PROGRAM AT CAPT. NATHAN HALE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Recently, on November 16, 2007 two CEP students, Jordan Sabin and Taylor Vann planned, organized, and commemorated Veterans Day with an assembly to honor all of the men and women who have served this country. They contacted a key note speaker Captain Philippe C. Gaucher USCG (Ret.) and solicited donations of doughnuts and coffee for a reception to honor our veteran guests. In addition, these two students worked with the 439th Westover Air Force Base Honor Guard to properly teach these students how to properly fold our flag and present the POW-MIA ceremony. Finally, Jordan and Taylor organized a poetry contest to encourage the students at CNHMS to write poems to honor the Veterans and worked with our music department to play a musical selection “America the Beautiful” and to have a few chorus members sing the “Star Spangled Banner”. This moving, respectful, well-organized assembly was truly a gift to our school community.
