Graduation Requirements

In order to receive a diploma from Coventry
High School, students must meet the following criteria:
- Performance Assessment (CAPT)
- Course Credit Requirements
- Community Service
- Portfolio Project
Performance Assessment
To graduate, a Coventry High School student must score a 3 or higher on the CAPT. Students not meeting this standard during their sophomore year are required to retake the CAPT during their junior year. If a student achieves goal on one or more of the CAPT components, but not all of them, the student needs to
retake only those components on which he or she did not reach district goal.
Students who retake the CAPT and still do not score 3 or higher for the second time will receive additional academic support and take an alternate assessments that cover the portions of the CAPT not meeting performance goals.

Course Requirements
To graduate, a Coventry High School student must successfully complete a minimum of 22 credits to meet the course distribution requirement. Students must receive credit in the following areas for graduation:
- English 4 credits
- Mathematics 3 credits
- Social Studies 3 credits including 1.0 in United States History and a civics Requirement
- Science 3 credits including Biology
- Arts/Vocational 1 credit
- Physical Education 1 credit
- Electives 6.5 credits
- Health Education .5 credits

Community Service
Coventry High School students are required to participate in ten hours of community service in order to graduate and receive their diploma. The Coventry High School Social Studies department is responsible for
administering this community service component. Specifications and restrictions determined by the CHS Social Studies department apply to this component for the purposes of graduation criteria.
