Teaching - Students visit the library each week with their class for a scheduled period.
- Good library citizenship, literature appreciation, vocational skills and a love of reading are the main focus of the Library Media Program.
- At each grade level students are encouraged to explore different types of literature by author, subject or genre.
- As students progress to higher grade levels, they are given more opportunities for independence and responsibility in selection, reading, care and return of library books.
Circulation
- Students may return and select new books each morning (or afternoon for p.m. kindergarten) on a daily basis with their teacher's permission.
- A limit of one book for kindergarten and grade one students and two books for grade two students.
- Additional books for reports may be checked out with permission from classroom teachers.
- Parents may check-out additional books for their children. The Library Media Center also has a limited collection of books, videotapes, and DVDs on topics of family learning and supporting at-home reading programs.
- There are no fines for overdue books.
- Students who are not finished with their book by the due date are asked to bring the book in for renewal.
- Reminder notices are sent home with the name and replacement cost (if lost) of the book approximately once a month.
- Lost items are asked to be replaced by sending in a specified replacement price. If an item is returned after you have paid this price you will be reimbursed.
