Recycling Center

Our second graders had the opportunity to visit the Connecticut Resource Recovery Center in October. This was a wonderful field experience that supported our unit on recycling. The students enjoyed the tower of trash. Here the students identified items that had become trash but could have been reused. 

 

In the lecture room students had the opportunity to sort items into three categories; reusable, recyclable, and trash. Students were amazed by reduction of the trash pile.

 

The students admired beautiful sculptures of local landmarks created by local artists. These sculptures were made entirely from recycled materials.
