Hello!  My name is Jennifer Jones and this is my second year as the Reading Consultant at Coventry Grammar School.  I look forward to another great year at CGS, reading with your children and participating in all the literacy events at our school!

Let me tell you a little about myself.   I graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I was a fourth grade teacher in Vernon for five and a half years.  Then, I was fortunate enough to stay at home to raise my boys for eight years.  During that time, I completed my Master’s degree in Reading.  In 2006, I began working at CGS as a Reading Specialist in the Reading Room.  I continued my schooling at CCSU to become a Reading Consultant.

My philosophy is that all children can learn to read.  I strongly feel that early intervention is the key to reading success.  Working with the students at CGS one-on-one and in small groups brings me great joy.   I also enjoy modeling good reading and writing practices for teachers, through classroom lessons and professional development workshops. 

In my free time, I like spending time with my husband, two sons, and two dogs.  My hobbies include scrapbooking with my friends, watching movies, and reading both adult and children's books.
