I began my teaching career in Coventry in 1987 where I taught art at both Nathan Hale Middle School and Coventry Grammar School. I have since settled into teaching kindergarten through second grade and I thoroughly enjoy the enthusiasm of young children. I graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Art Education. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy being with family and friends. I enjoy animals, hiking and the outdoors.
The focus of art at Coventry Grammar School is to expose students to the basic elements of art; color, shape, space, line, and texture. Emphasis is placed on exploration, fine motor skills and hand eye coordination. Students are continuously introduced to new materials and techniques. Also stressed are integrated lessons with the core curriculum, group and school wide projects and incorporating art with literature. The annual arts festival and school wide art display culminates the year.
