Grade One Curriculum Night

Coventry Grammar School’s Grade 1 teaching team presented “A Day in the Life of a First-Grader” to an eager audience of parents and other adult family members on Thursday evening, October 4.  Teachers narrated an extensive PowerPoint slideshow of photos and text that reflected a typical day for Grade 1 students, beginning with each classroom’s Morning Meeting and ending with the students’ preparations for dismissal.  During the presentation, the teachers spoke of their students’ daily work in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science.  Our school’s reading consultant addressed the parents on Reading Room support services for students.  Additionally, audience members were given photographic glimpses into Art, Music, Library, and Physical Education, while also learning about procedures related to classroom activity transitions as well as snack, lunch, and recess.

Audience members received a packet of materials that reviewed the curriculum information presented, along with helpful suggestions to extend learning at home.  Packets were sent home to parents who were not able to attend the presentation.
