During a cold, hard winter, one has opportunities to be indoors, get quiet and reflect on life’s journey.
Here it is… the spring that follows the reflective winter. It is a time of new birth and new beginnings.
The new beginnings for me involve spending more time with my daughter and my grandchildren. In order to be more active in their lives, I am announcing a leave of absence from Coventry Public Schools beginning in August. I will officially retire from Coventry and the State of Connecticut in June 2012.
It has been my privilege and honor to serve the students of Coventry Public Schools. For sure, I believe there is no greater calling than developing supportive educational environments in the interest of young people. It has been my focus for decades and by June 2012, I will have been employed in this effort for over forty years.
I know you share with me the belief that Coventry is a very special community filled with so many caring people. The demonstrations, in this community, of caring compassionate behavior are striking and continuously serve as models for the best that is in each of us. I trust that Coventry Schools as an organization will continue to grow and develop under new leadership.
Working with Coventry children has been a gift to me. Your support of me as your school superintendent is recognized and sincerely appreciated. Please accept my very best wishes for continued success in the interest of Coventry young people.
