A Celebration of Young Poets

Each year, Creative Communications from Logan, Utah, publishes an anthology called, A Celebration of Young Poets.  Less than 50% of the poems submitted are selected.  Capt. Nathan Hale Middle School had forty-six Grade 6 students whose poems were published!!  The list of students that have been accepted to be published represents talent, hard work, and dedication from the teachers and students.  In judging thousands of poems each year, judges have found that the single most important factor in creating a quality poem is the quality of instruction.  Creative Communications has found that schools with excellent language arts programs have a much higher percentage of their students' poetry accepted.  CNH stands out and will be recognized in the anthology as receiving a "Poetic Achievement Award."  This honor is only given to the top 10% of the schools who entered the contest.

~~~ Congratulations CNH students and teachers!! ~~~
Jordan Sabin Heads Community Service Project
Parents and students at Capt. Nathan Hale School collected powdered drink containers for a
community service project that 7th grader Jordan Sabin spearheaded.  Over 161 pounds of various powdered drinks were collected over a 2-week period.  Jordan got the idea of doing the project
after his cousin who was serving in the military last summer commented that the powdered drinks
were one of the best things he received because it flavored the otherwise bland water.  The
powdered drinks were shipped to an Air Force base in Iraq.
Thank you Jordan!!
Autumn
The sun shows pizzazz,
The wind blows as,
The chill air skims through the land.
The water is cold
Not yet an ice mold,
And I hear the great animal band.
The birds are singing,
Their voices ringing,
Down in the valley where the animals lay.
The leaves are yellow,
And nothing is mellow,
"The best season ever," they say.
