Board of Education News: Programs That Make a Difference
At the March 8, 2007 meeting, the “Program Highlights” section focused on the Art Program at Coventry High School. Art teachers Alison Blair and Erin Holub showed a PowerPoint presentation of the various art programs and projects going on at CHS. Information about the art department can also be viewed on the CHS website. Since March was Youth Art Month, the Booth & Dimock Library in town displayed works of art by CNH and CHS students. Our Coventry students have created some wonderful pieces! One high school student in particular, Rachel Kalagher, was the recipient of the Gold Key Award from the CT Art Association. Miss Kalagher was present at the meeting and showed the Board her winning piece “View Through a Window.” There is a possibility her winning entry will go to New York City for a gallery showing. Other pieces of student artwork have been temporarily hung in the halls of the Administration Building. Feel free to stop in and take a look.
