Board of Education News: Programs That Make a Difference

At the May 28, 2009 meeting, the “Coventry Pride” section featured the recognition of CHS students for receiving Honorable Mention in the Toshiba/National Science Teachers Association ExploraVision Awards. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Bernard noted the honorable mention and introduced the students Eric Leamon, Casey Cunningham, and James Podolski. On behalf of the Board of Education Dr. Bernard presented each students with gift cards to Barnes & Noble.

Eric Leamon spoke on behalf of the group and explained the project that was submitted as part of the contest. Student advisor, Cyndy Alkire said that this was the first time, in ten years of submissions, that Coventry students were recognized. Board member Cheryl Trudon asked if the idea would be patented. Ms. Alkire replied that the idea is owned by Toshiba as part of the contest contract.
