Board of Education News:  Programs That Make a Difference

          

          At the March 13, 2008 meeting, the “Coventry Pride” section focused on the Festival of Trees project, a fundraising event for the Wadsworth Athenaeum.  Mr. David Petrone, GHR Principal, originally brought this project to the middle school.  He thought it would be an excellent means to promote diversity with Coventry students.  This year, both Capt. Nathan Hale and G. H. Robertson students participated along with students from Manchester Regional Academy.  The students created a quilt to be sold at the festival, which was purchased by the Director of the Wadsworth.  Scott Rhoades, CNH Art teacher, showed pictures of the students making the quilt and of the trip to Hartford to see it. 

          Ms. Carla Kennedy, Challenge & Enrichment teacher, showed the Fox61 Student News story her students filmed about the Festival of Trees project.  She was very happy to tell the Board that the story will be broadcast on Fox61.
